Welcome to Devonshire Shelties
My shelties are house pet's first and I
love them dearly. They get the best of everything that I can give them. They are healthy, come from beautiful long
lived lines where you will see many Champions and well known sheltie's in their pedigree's. An
example of where some of their ancestors come from are: Wynwoods Shelties, Makats Shelties, Felicity Shelties, Belmark
Shelties, Bach Shelties, Barwoods Shelties, Oak Crest, Macdega, Tall Timbers, and it goes on with more well known
breeders that have been producing quality shelties for many years with the emphasis being on bettering the breed and
staying within the guidelines of the AKC Shetland Sheepdog Breed Standard.
My goal is for my first home bred show quality sheltie
to hit the ring and win a championship title!
I always follow the AKC Breed Standard and if
something does not meet, or if it exceeds the guidelines I do not endorse it. I carefully plan my breedings and
only have one a year. Being a member of the Green Bay Shetland Sheepdog Club I can refer you to Reputable Breeders in
the area that have litters. Shelties acceptable range of height (according to the breed standard) is from 13
to 16 inches from ground to shoulder, anything under 13 inches or over 16 inches is not acceptable in my breeding program.
Shelties are noted for having varries sizes, because of the large acceptable range of height we can get what we refer to as
"throw backs" of which they can be very big or very tiny. Those are the one's we place into "pet" homes, and wonderful pet's
they will make for someone lucky enough to have a sheltie and does not care about the size and only want the loyalty
and intelligence these beautiful dog's are all about!!! Once you have a sheltie it's almost impossible to
think of your life without one.
I have had different breeds, a Poodle, German Sheppard,
Irish Setter, Scottie and Yorkies, each were special to me. But after researching different breeds I got my first Sheltie
in 1989, I love this breed. Shelties have it all, they are compact easy to groom, They are intelligent and
are easy to train, they learn almost immediately. If your consistant you can teach them to do anything. They want
to please their person and they are very loyal. They also have a long life span. I know some people that their
dogs have lived 16+ years. I keep in touch with the special people that have adopted my puppies. If I hear of
any important news concerning food recalls, latest news on vaccines, illnesses, I email them with news. I am there
for any questions or help I can give them. It is always a pleasure to see pictures of them growing up and hear the wonderful
things that they have done and learned.
A special thanks to Tana Holderbaum for all her help and support in
my breeding program and for making this website. She has helped me with whelping and has been my mentor.
She is the one that encouraged me to breed shelties. and to be the Recording Secretary of the Green Bay Shetland
Sheepdog Club. We have spent many hours talking about Shelties. Tana, Thank you for all that you have done for
me.
I am in the process of "building up" this website so
for now I have one of my males on the 'Boy's' page posted for you to see. He is Champion sired by BISS Ch. C-Mar Color Code and mother is Felicity Serenade.
Another example of what I have produced is on my "Thank You!" page with their loving dedicated owners, take a look !!
